3 SPACES ARE OPEN!!!!
Welcome to Rescue and Rehabilitation class. It will be difficult, hard on your nerves, and on your heart. Not everything is going to go as it was planned to, these horses, have not had the best past and need a lot of TLC to be back to normal. But the end result of things will be rewarding, to see the distressed mangled animal that you saw on your first day in class turn into a mostly sane, beautiful horse, under your care, is the best feeling that I have ever felt. Now go feel it I command you!
- to enter this class you must be at least 13 years of age
- to enter this class you must also be an upper intermediate to advanced rider
In this class you will:
- choose and name a horse that you will work with as long as it takes to heal his body and his mind
- make a specific food regimen for this horse
- help him get over problems that have occurred because of his past
- treat his physical problems as you see fit
- I will assist you when needed and step in if i believe what you are doing will do more harm than good to you charge
Name: Horse 1
Age: 10
Breed: Oldenburg
Height: 16hh
Gender: Stallion
Appearance: bay with a white star on his forehead, scars all over his ribs
history: This horse was a show horse, competing in large events. He was overworked and did not have the best training. When he lost which was often he was beat and went without food. He was found in a dark stall of the previous owners barn, skinny, scared, and covered in mud, and infected cuts and sores
Problems: this horse, is very thin, and still has plenty of cuts in need of treatment. His feet have one of the worst case of thrush I have ever seen in his two front hooves, more minor cases in the back. He becomes scared and very defensive, rearing biting and kicking whenever someone tries to come near him too quickly.
Other Notes: He will be difficult, you must be very very patient with this horse if he is the one you choose. Work slowly, baby step by baby step until he's better. Also move slowly whenever around him but don't creep around, keep a normal calm aura around you as much as possible even if it is nerve wracking.
Name: Horse 2
Age: 3
Breed: Arabian
Gender: Gelding
Height: 15hh
Appearance: light gray almost white
History: This young horse has been left cross tied to two stakes in the ground out in the wet and cold, standing in thick mud. with no food and little water
Problems: he is severely thin, with bad cases of thrush in all four feet, rain rot on his legs, is terrified of cross ties, and bad weather, he also has mange.
Other Notes: He does spook at cross ties and even the smallest of drizzles, or gusts of wind but other wise he has a great temperament and just wants some love.
Name: Horse 3 - Taken By Super//Chrissy
Age: 4
Breed: race horse
Height: 17hh
Gender: Stallion
Appearance: chestnut, no markings, cuts and scars all over
History: this horse was a race horse, who didn't quite cut it, he never won a single race. And his owners put him in auction, the winner was a slaughter house. He was thrown in a too small pen with about ten other horses, they competed viciously for what little food and water they got, which resulted in cuts. He was saved only a day before he was scheduled to be killed.
Problems:Horse number three was already high strung before his time in the slaughter house he is now even worse, almost impossible to lead, and shying at almost everything. Almost takes of galloping if you don't pull back with the lead. He is now thin and very viscous about food, bucking and rearing at anyone who comes with in seven feet of his stall while he is eating. He is has a lot of still healing cuts that need attention, and some mild thrush. Terrified of horse trailers, balks at the sight of them.
Other Notes: This horses problems are more mental than physical. He'll need patients, and time.
Name: Horse 4
Age: 8
Breed: can't really tell, back yard mix of some sort
Height: about 14.2hh
Gender: mare
Appearance: bright bay, a big heavy build, despite her small size, might have draft horse in her.
History: Was found on a small farm that was having trouble with the bills, since he wasn't one of the lesson horses, she was kept on the far end of the farm, with very little food, and a thick muddy pasture with no grass.
Problems: Defensive with food, thrush, rain rot, very thin,
Other Notes: Other than getting more than a little nippy around food, Horse 4 is actually in much better shape than others, though like all rescue horses she will need some time.
