Reta Brabant The sun was bright and pleasently warm over Reta's head. The lively breeze ruffled her silky brown waves and she automatically reached up to pat them back into place. She focused on the soft thudding sound that her black leather riding boots made in the dust and swept her eyes down her body. Her atire was simple. A three-quarter sleeved light gray blouse and tan riding pants. Her face was clean of makeup besides a layer of thikening mascara and clear lip gloss. Her gaited was quick and confident as she walked toward the office building. Once she reached the double doors she concentrated on wiping most of the dust off the soles of her boots. The door was unlocked and she walked inside, walking through the door off the office for the first time. Into the lounge, just as she'd expected. After settling Sun in his new stall Reta had decided to explore. And what better place to start than a general hangout for most of the kids boarding here. She was disappointed to see that the room was empty of people. But she was tired, so she sat down on one of the couches and picked up a paperback from the coffee table. It was a children's book but she turned to the first page quickly. Weird . . . It's like the whole world is avoiding me, she thought scornfully. But she knew that wasn't it. She'd only arrived at the place a day ago.

Vicki limped into the lounge as she usually did after a ride with Dancer. She rubbed her hip and winced as she made her way to the fridge that was kept full of sugary drinks. Taking a can of Coke, Vicki popped the lid open and took a long drink. The familiar fizz made her feel instantly better, taking her mind off the pain of being dumped by her spirited mare yet again. Only after taking a second sip of her drink did Vicki notice someone else was in the lounge. "Sorry, I didn't even see you there!" she exclaimed, walking over to the couch that the girl was seated at. Vicki didn't recognise her, but she didn't know a lot of people at the school yet, either. "I'm Vicki," she said with a smile.

Reta eventually decided that sher had nothing better to do so she crossed her ankles, tilted her head a little so that it was resting against the sofa and began reading the undetailed story designed just to amuse little kids. She wasn't really concentrating but she was vaguely aware that it was something about a pony and a little girl that came to visit him every day. She was so numbed by her boredom at that time that she didn't even notice a girl walking into the room and getting somthing from the fride in the far corner. It startled her when an unfamiliar voice called out. Reta immediately perked up into a sitting position. She watched curiously as the girl walked over to the couch. She was about the same age as Reta. She had brown hair and sea green eyes. Reta decided that she was pretty, even with her freckles and scars. She announced that her name was Vicki. She smiled at her. "Hey Vicki. I'm Reta. It's not short for anything. My parents are just kind of weird." She rolled her eyes. "I just arrived yesterday." She was hoping to possibly befriend the girl she now knew as Vicki. It would make it way easier to settle in.

Vicki laughed. "I think it's a cool name," she said, mulling it over. "Vicki's short for Victoria...But I hate that name." She made a face, then sat down on the other side of the couch. "Oh, cool," she smiled. "I've been here for a couple of weeks now, but I still don't know everyone," she said. "Where'd you move from?"

Reta smiled a little when Vicki said that she thought her name was cool. Some people just gave her funny looks when she told them her silly name. Followed by "Is that short for something?". Although she had gotten over it long ago and she did suppose it was nice to have an unusual name. "Victoria, huh?" She frowned playfully. "I think it sounds quite regal." Then she sighed at herself. A few weeks? Well, they were both quite new. "Where's I move from? I'm from California. I'll be doing my senior year over the internet and then I can finally focus on my riding without having my parents on my back about grades." She grinned. It was easy to talk to her. They probably could be friends . . .

Griffon Stone
Griffon strolled into the lounge, his tall frame moving easily, his blonde hair was a little ruffled and had a few pieces of grass in it. His button down shirt was grass stained and partly undone showing the top of his chest. He had just been out in the pasture with Cisco messing around bareback and bridless, they had been galloping and par to the usual Cisco got excited and bucked and Griffon ended up on the ground. He got back on though and went at it again, he always did. He glanced around, he recognized one girl though he hadn't talked to her before, the other one must have been new. "Hello." he said in his southern drawl, and nodded to each of them, he would have tipped his hat but Cisco had stepped on it, and it was now bent out of shape. "I'm Griffon."

Vicki grimaced at Reta's comment. "I think it's way too girly for me," she laughed. She did enjoy doing 'girly' things, but she felt like her name just didn't suit her. She smiled to Reta. "That's cool," she said. "I've never been to California." She laughed at Reta's comment about her parents. "Yeah, I know that feeling," she grinned. "I gave up on school...My grades were never great and it's only my riding that matters to me. Do you have your own horse?" she asked the other girl. She looked up when a guy walked in. He had grass stains smeared on his shirt, and he looked like he'd just been dumped by a horse. Vicki hid a grin, knowing the feeling well. Usually she was the one with the 'I just got dropped in the dirt' look. "Hi," she said to him with a smile. "I'm Vicki."

Aname too girly for a girl. Reta smiled and chuckled under her breath. She'd been to Europe once or twice and seemingly hundreds of girls there were named Victoria. She listened curiously as Vicki mentioned that she'd never been to California. "You should go if you get the chance. It's great." She smiled and readjusted her position on the couch, grabbing a pillow and shoving it behind her back. She realized suddenly that she should probably book in and get her dorm number. She had slept at a hotel the night before and drove to the farm in the morning. She sighed, deciding that she would do it as soon as she finished up here. She frowned a little as Vicki explained about her school life. But what if riding didn't work out? How would she get into college . . . But Reta decided not to ponder the subject too much. She fully intended to get a complete education, even while she was boarding at Starry Skies. She wondered if they might consider building a school nearby, just so that the kids could finish up before completely turning their attention to riding. She tried again to stop herself from being so mentally nosy. "Oh,well if that's what feels right and your parents don't mind then I see nothing wrong with that", she half-lied the sentence smoothly, Vicki would never know. "I have a horse. An Arabian named Ombre De Soleils. Shadow Of Suns in english. I just call him Sun though. You?" She turned her head sharply as a boy walked into the room and introduced himself. Vicki did the same. "Hey, Griffon." Her voice floated cross the room, silky smooth and very pleasant to listen to. "I'm Reta." She shot him one of her signature smiles and cocked her head.

OOC: Great idea a school! supernora and I shall converse about it!
Griffon smiled congenialy at both of them, "It's very nice to meet both of you." his deep voice soft but audible. He turned around to grab a coke, Vicki seemed very nice so did Reta though she also seemed like a bit of a flirt. He popped open the soda with a metallic click and took a sip before walking over to the couch opposite Reta watching both girls with gray eyes waiting for the converstaion to start up again.

(I know right!!! Epic idea!!)
Vicki grinned. "Yeah, I might go sometime," she said, thinking about it. She frowned slightly at Reta's observation. "Oh...my parents minded," she laughed. "I just didn't really care. I figured it's my life, not theirs. I've always dreamed of being an instructor." She stopped, not wanting to reveal too much. She felt like she was blabbing. She got the faint idea that Reta didn't approve of Vicki not finishing school, and felt the need to defend herself, even if her feeling was off. "I'd basically finished though, I got through three of my five exams and passed them all...But I just didn't see the need to do any more." She chewed on the inside of her mouth, a habit she'd picked up from her mother. Smiling at Reta's mention of her horse, Vicki nodded. "That's an awesome name," she said. "I have a psycho Gypsy Vanner cross Australian Brumby mare. Her name's Million Dollar Dance, or Dancer for short. She has no manners," she laughed. Again, Vicki quickly jumped to defend herself, before anyone even had a chance to say anything. "She's a real sweetheart though," she said. She smiled to Griffon. "Nice to meet you, too," she said genuinely. Vicki was always up for meeting new people. "How about you?" she asked Griffon. "Do you have a horse?"

Reta wasn't sure what to think of the current situation. She was enjoying herself, having finally found company and not feeling alone for the first time in what felt like forever. She liked Vicki and hoped they would soon become friends. It was an inviting thought to get to know someone, to feel like she was connected to her new home somehow. She grinned a bit and stared out the window idly while Vicki introduced herself to Griffon. She raised her eyebrows slightly to herself. She'd been there about and hour and already had she run into a cute boy. She loved that he was the cowboy type and could melt over his accent, though she didn't show it. Even slightly. She turned her head to him again when Vicki finished speaking. Her wavy brown hair shimmered and it caught the light and she tucked her feet underneath her on the couch. She was aware that the other girl had asked him a question but she didn't want to sit there quietly. She almost opened her mouth but realized it would be rude. She only smiled sweetly at him and waited for him to answer.
