[[GRACE]]
I walked into the weanling barn already dreading what I would be up against. The moment I entered I could hear her, crying for her mother, squealing angrily, kicking the sides of the stall. I sighed and hurried over to the stall containing its newest occupant. "Hey, Merc," I murmured to the little filly. Her ears pricked up, and Mercury stared at me for a long moment before pinning her ears and jumping off the ground, lashing out with her hind legs and rising in a rear once she'd landed. She squealed, and started pacing, a faint track already worn through the straw bedding lining her stall. She'd been separate from Stormy for a wek already, and Mercury wasn't taking her weaning very well. "It's okay girl, calm down," I said to the filly. Her ears flicked, indicating that she'd heard me, but other than that Mercury ignored me, continuing to pace, stopping every few steps to call out to her dam. Her high, pleading whinny tore at my heart, and I wante to just bring her to her mama for a minute. "You're not even allowed just a little visit, baby," I said to her, reaching into the stall to rub the filly's soft, fuzzy neck. Her smokey gray and white colouring reminded me so much of Bingo, it was hard not to smile. Both of Stormy and Bingo's foals looked more like their father than their mother, something I wouldn't complain about. Mercury was technically the elder of the twins, but she was smaller than her brother. I'd chosen her immediately, the moment I set eyes on her. She was fiesty right from the start, and I had a feeling she would be difficult throughout her whole life. "Are you hungry, girl?" I asked the filly. Mercury pawed at the ground angrily, scattering straw and dust. "I'll take that as a yes," I muttered, wandering away from her stall to get some feed. A deep, royal blue fed bin sat in the corner, while bright, twinkling diamontes spelled out the name "Mercury's Storm". I piled in a scoop of lucerne chaff, a handful of breeder pellets for growth, and a teaspoon of sweet smelling herbs, in the hope that they would help to soothe Mercury. Dumping a small scoop of working horse mix into the bucket, I shook everything around to mix it all together. Merc had the habit of just eating the ingredients she liked and leaving the rest. I grabbed a biscuit of hay as well and returned to her stall in time to see the filly kick the back wall three times in rapid succesion. Her head flew up when she saw me, and she nickered, trotting to the front of the stall in an attempt to shove her head into the feed bucket. "Oh no you don't," I laughed, pushing her head away as I clipped the bucket into its holder. Merc had so far managed to destroy two buckets and numerous other things so far, I wasn't taking chances with this new bucket. I smiled as Mercury buried her head in the bucket, snorting and sending a cloud of feed flying. I rolled my eyes and slipped into the stall, shoving the hay into the hay net that hung in the corner of the stall. Mercury was eating and drinking fine without her mother, it was just the separation that was the hard part. I finished with the hay and just watched the filly for a while, smiling as her fluffy little tail swished frantically as she ate.

Penelope Winters walked along the edge of the academy, her hands stuck in her pockets, her mouth in an o-shape as she whistled. Pen had checked on Finn and would later be checking on the foal she had recently bought. Pen couldn't wait to see what the new foal was like. She had bought him off a boy who could only look after his two horses and the other foal. Dancing Light, was her show name. Pen would start properly with her tommorow. She'd been seperated from her Mum just a couple of days ago. Pen saw the notice for the Weanling Barn and thought she would pop in to try and get any tips and to see if Dancing Light (Aurora) would be in her stall there. As soon as Pen entered, she heard whinnies and kicks on the wall. Being worried, Pen rushed to where she thought the noise was coming from. As she was trying to find where the horse or person was, she spotted a girl up ahead. Pen walked rapidly up and smiled to the girl. She looked in the stall at the foal eating. Everything seemed fine. "Excuse me, " Pen began. "I don't mean to pry, but was it just now, this foal making all the commotion and kicking out?" Pen asked the girl in front of her. Pen smiled at the girl again and waited for the answer from the girl. Curious about her surroundings, Pen quickly snatched a look into the stall beside the one with the girl. The foal in the next stall was a beautiful one. and it seemed to look exactly like the picture of the foal that Pen was meant to be looking after. Pen looked at the sign on the front of the stall door. And sure enough, it said 'Aurora'. Pen almost jumped with joy. "Excuse me for a moment." She said to the girl she had currently been talking to. Pen quickly opened the kick bolt latch of the stable door and then relaxed. Being this excited would be sensed by the horse and the foal would probably have a hissy fit. Calming down, Pen held out a hand just in reach so the filly could smell it. Pen smiled as the filly smelt her and blew on her gently, tickling Pen's hand. Pen got braver and stroked the muzzle of the filly. This filly was obviously taking better to weaning than the filly in the stall next door.

I started when I heard someone speak. I hadn't realised anybody else was in here too. I turned, and smiled as I saw somebody outside Merc's stall, watching the filly eat. I noddd with a slight laugh as I answered her question. "Yeah, that was Mercury," I said with a smile. "She's a little...temperamental sometimes." I nodded when the girl excused herself, and watched curiously as she disappeared into the neighbouring stall. I smiled as she held out her hand to the filly next door. I'd lost count of how many times I'd wished Mercury would just take a hint from Aurora and realise that being away from Stormy wasn't so bad. Smiling still, I ran a hand over Mercury's back as I passed her. She snorted but her head didn't rise from the feed bucket. I laughed and let myself out of the stall, being sure to latch it securely behind me. I moved over to the stall next door, and spoke quietly. "Is Aurora yours?" I asked the girl curiously. I'd never seen anybody in here with the filly besides the stablehands that routinely fill up waters and muck out stalls. None of them had actually owned the little filly though. I smiled as I watched the girl with the young horse.

Jaimie walked in, Requiem was a month old now, and had started to eat solid foods a bit earlier than the two months he should have waited for. Now was to start his training, Bahira was a good d*mn and had produced that handsome little thing that Jaimie adored. She walked to his stall and wiped her thumb over his gold name plate she had gotten for him that read Requiem The little colts ears shot up as he saw his owner and he squealed excitedly, "Hey you, how are you, did you miss me?" she whispered to him, bending over and putting her and over his head, she played with his ears for a moment and laughed when he head butted her leg. She ran her hand over his small body, hopefully he would be a good boy, Jaimie didn't want to get harsh on him, now she was raising and training two horses, she was basically raising Jazz some more. Jaimie squatted down and looked at him, rubbing her fingers on his tiny muzzle, standing inside the stall, "We're going to work on some halter training, just introducing it, so don't go and get feisty on me." She rubbed and traced his blaze, and got ou of the stall and walked towards where she had a halter. Farther down she spotted two girls, that she had to pass by to get to Req's halter. She passed by and looked into the stalls they were by both were very pretty fillies she stopped and read the name plates, Aurora and Mercury "Hey, I'm Jaimie, you both have some nice fillies." she smiled and felt kinda weird about talking to them and saying stupid things. Suddenly a smash against wood sounded, and she turned to see Req kicking up in impatience and excitement of being with Jaimie. "Req!?" said Jaimie exasperatedly. She walked over to the hook and picked up the halter and walked back to the girls, waiting for their responses.
(Hope you don't mind if I pop in)

(haha no that's cool!! the more the merrier ) I turned as another girl walked past the stall we were at, and smiled to her. Apparently having a foal to look after was just the in way to meet new people. I nodded as she introduce herself, still smiling. "I'm Grace," I said to her. I suppose it was to the other girl to, the one in Aurora's stall. I realised I didn't even know her name. I smiled as Jaimie mentioned the fillies. "They're cuties, aren't they," I said, although it was more to myself than to anyone else. I half laughed as Merc's ears pricked up when she head a crash. Apparently she took it as a personal invitation to join in, because she started bucking and kicking out at the stall walls. I rolled my eyes and turned to Jaimie. "She doesn't really like the whole concept of being away from her dam," I said, laughing. I watched as Jaimie walked past us to collect a halter, and raised my eyebrows once she was back. "So do you have a foal in here as well?" I asked her. Well, duh Grace, I thought to myself. She was in the Weanling barn, talking to a horse, and she had a foal sized halter. Kinda obvious she had a foal here somewhere. Stupid question really. "If it's the one kicking out, sounds like he's got the same kinda personality as Merc here," I said with a laugh.

Penelope turned when the girl behind her spoke. She smiled. "Yeah. Auroras mostly always been calm. " Pen let herself into the stall now and walked to her filly. "Thank you. She is. She's lovely. " Pen replies to the other girl who had said the two fillies were lovely. As Jaimie introduced herself, Pen said. "Lovely to meet you Jaimie. I'm Penelope Winters. " Pen put the head collar onto her new filly and tied her up in her stall. She then looked to the other girl who introduced herself as Grace. "Yes, Grace. She is mine. She used to belong to Charlie, but he has two foals and I said I'd look after one for him. "

She laughed "Wait, I'm sorry, now I know where recognized you from, Grace, from the pet store?." She looked to the stall, that was three stalls down. "Yea, My Req." she rubbed her finger of the silver plate at the top of the halter that read Requiem she was spoiling him, buying him things like that and personalizing his things. She laughed "Poor Merc" she said. "Oh no, I just haven't got a chance to see him in awhile, and he is very boisterous, silly Requiem." Jaimie turned to Penelope "I know Charlie! If its Charlie Timdon. Thats nice though."

Penelope nodded as the others chatted. "You work in the pet store, did you say, Grace? I might pop along. I need to get a new puupy now that I had to leave Mitchi back at home. " Pen looked over to Req. "He's cute. Req, I mean. " Said Pen embarrassed. She nodded as Jaimie said she knew Charlie. "Yeah. It was Charlie Timdon. " Pen paused. "You can call me Pen, not Penelope, please. " The girl explained. "I don't mean to pry Jaimie, but there is a rumour going round that I heard the first day here that you and Charlie are going out. Is that true? I don't mean to pry, of course. "

Jaimie nodded "Thanks, my mare had him a month ago. Jaimie smiled at Pen "Well then I know him, oh ok Pen." Jaimie blushed just a tiny bit There were already rumors?! "Oh, know it's fine, I guess were going out. I don't know but I guess so." she shrugged nervously and laughed a bit. Pen had heard about it on the first day she came here? Oh great.

(I think we should wait for peanut now!)
Pen smiled. "Cool. I don't know how long ago Misty had Aurora and her twin brother, Chance." Pen blushed as well. "I'm sorry if I embarrassed you. " Pen hung her head, she knew it would've been best if she'd kept that information to herself and kept quiet, but no, she'd gone and told everyone. "Well, it was only a rumor. " Pen pointed out absent-mindedly. "A girl called Ella told me." Pen chipped in.

(The waiting should come a tad earlier ;P I don't really wanna get left behind in my own thread)
I brightened as Jaimie mentioned the pet store. "Oh my God!" I laughed. "I didn't even recognise you!" I grinned at her, remembering now. I couldn't believe I hadn't realised. I laughed at myself for being so ignorant. I nodded in agreement with Penelope. "Yeah, he's a cutie," I said, gazing at Jaimie's colt. I smiled to Penelope, or Pen as she wanted to be called. "I'd like to see you drop by the pet store," I said to her. We had a couple of pups that needed rehoming. I smiled warmly to her and hoped I'd see her there in a few days. I listened as the two girls talked about Charlie. I didn't even know who he was, so I focused on Mercury instead. She'd nearly finished her fee, and was starting to get restless again, stamping her back feet as she finished the last bits of fed in her bucket. I looked up as Pen mentioned that Ella had told her about Jaimie and Charlie, and nearly rolled my eyes. "That doesn't surprise me," I muttered under my breath. Ella was my friend, sure, but sometimes she spoke without really thinking. It didn't surprise me if she was already telling people rumours that she'd heard.

"I will drop by when I can. Hopefully that will be soon!" Pen explained. She sat down on a chair beside the stalls. "C'mon then, Aurora, time to gt you fed. " Pen grabbed the fillys empty bucket and took it to the feed room. She filled the bucket with two scoops of pony nuts, a scoop of chaff and a scoop of alfalfa. She returned to the stall, shaking the bucket to mix up the feed as she walked. She openned Auroras stable door and put it down beside the filly. The filly dived her head into the bucket and started munching. Pen laughed and then left the stall and closed the door.

"I was like,Oh my god! Grace from the petstore." she turned looking to req "Thanks, he is one of my pride and joys." She listened to pen "Me either, I hope charlie doesn't mind me saying this, but thats his ex girlfriend." Jaimie rolled her eyes at Ella like Grace and crossed her arms.

(Haha its okay!!! I nodde to Pen with a smile. "That'd be good," I said to her. I laughed to Jaimie, then cocked my head as I listened to what she had to say. I nearly groaned out loud, rumours and ex-boyfriends and a whole circle seemed like the wrong thing to get into. I hoped for Jaimie's sake that Ella took it well. She really wasn't that bad, but petty girl stuff had a habit of turning into awfulness. I smiled ruefully. "This is why I hang around horses more than people," I laughed, hoping to make a joke. Mercury finally finished off her lunch and stared around, like she was just noticing there was more than one person around. She craned her head, trying to look everywhere at once, and I laughed.

She sighed, and laughed at Grace's joke "Yes, I hate these types of things, just best to keep out of the way of it. Ha, yeah Grace, now that I don't know many people, I can do that." she crossed her arms and laughed again. Req squealed and pounded on his door impatiently "That's my Que." she laughed, and walked three stalls down to Req. Jaimie grabbed his food bucket and gave him some food and a bit of hay, she brushed the dirt off the bucket name plate on the black bucket. Jaimie turned to Pen and Grace "Do they have a movie theater hear?"

Penelope grinned. "So, what are the relationships here like? People breaking up all the time?" Pen couldn't hold it in any longer. She just had to know. She nodded with the others and laughed when Jaimie rushed of to her colt, Requiem. Penelope watched her fully slowly finish off her food and turned back to the others. "Yeah, I think!"

I laughed and shook my head sadly. "People these days," I said with a laugh, shrugging. I grimaced to Pen and shrugged again. "No clue," I said to her truthfully. "I guess there'd be the fair share of heartbreaks, but I don't really get involved in people's personal lives. There's a heck of a lot of relationships all the time though, it's way too hard to keep track of them all." I laughe, then smiled at Jaimie's question. "Yeah, there is!" I said, backing up Pen's affirmation. "Just in town. Nothing too flash but it's pretty nice there," I said with a grin.

Pen smiled. "i know. Back home it was pretty much the same. " Pen muttered. Everywhere was probably very alike. Pen smiled as Aurora perked her ears, probably listening into the conversation. "We could go sometime, "Pen suggested. "To the movie theater, I mean."

I smiled, and added a nod. "Sounds good to me," I said happily. It would be good to just go out with friends for a change. I smiled and glanced into Mercury's stall. She was pawing at the ground, looking like she was determined to dig her way out. I rolled my eyes fondly at the little filly. I hoped she'd settle eventually so I could begin her training. It would be way to hard to start teaching her things if she was still missing Stormy.

Pen nodded and ran a hand throhg her her. She pulled it out her high bun and then put it in a quick plait. "Want to get a quick ride in?" she asked, looking over at the main barn where Finn would be waiting to be let out and exercised. She glanced at her watch anxiously.

I smiled and looked to Pen. "Maybe in half an hour or so?" I said to her, glancing in at Mercury. The filly would be fine alone, since there was nothing to do but wait for her to get used to being separated from her dam. "But it'll have to be quick," I added, remembering. "I have to go to work at noon. Why don't we go later this evening?" I suggested. I didn't really feel like rushing a ride. I preferred taking my time and enjoying the ride, rather than knowing whatever I was doing had to be finished by a certain time. I smiled regretfully to Penelope and gave a little shrug.
