[[WILL]]
Gus pawed at the ground, tossing his chestnut head excitedly. I laughed, giving a small tug on his reins. "Easy, boy," I murmured to the gelding, trying to get him to stand still so I could mount. Gus whinnied, but quit pawing at the sand, fidgeting in place. I rolled my eyes and grabbed the horn of my saddle, pulling myself up in one swift movement. I wriggled my toes and then shoved my boots into the stirrups, grinning. I hadn't ridden since I'd been here, and I couldn't wait to start racing again. Gus skipped forwards, and I reined him back to where he'd been originally, giving him a small tug. "Calm your farm," I muttered, adjusting my stirrups so they were a tad longer. I gathered up my reins, and glanced out at the poles that were set up in the arena. Behind them were three barrels set up. I grinned, gave Gus a friendly slap on the shoulder, and hunched forwards, ready to go. "Alright boy, let's do this thing," I said. I gave the gelding a kick in the gut, yelled a strangled "HAH!" and Gus took off like a rocket. His legs powered out and he ran straight down the side of the poles. We reached the other end quickly, and Gus spun on a dime, an easy, practised movement for him. I barely had to guide him with the reins as he galloped through the poles, bending tightly and with precision. "Come on!" I cried to him, and somehow he found even more speed. We swung around the last pole and dove back through them again. I had to grab the saddle's horn as Gus turned to stop myself being unbalanced. I barked a laugh and dug in with my spurs, grinning as Gus' ears pricked forwards and he bolted through the last bend. With a practised hand, I pulled the gelding around with one hand and kicked, and Gus legged it towards the finish, bolting straight down past all the poles. I gave him his head and leaned forward, urging him on. As we flew past the finish, I leaned back in my saddle and hauled on the reins, prepared for Gus' sliding stop. Sure enough, the big gelding slammed on his brakes and skidded to a halt, carving a deep groove in the sand. I laughed and leaned down to give him a pat on the neck. He was barely sweating, although his sides heaved a little. His ears were pricked and he whinnied excitedly. I grinned. "You love this just as much as I do, don't ya boy?" I murmured to him. I heard a braying, and closed my eyes with a sigh, waiting. I felt Gus whip around, and his neck lowered. When I opened my eyes, he was nose-to-nose with a little donkey filly, huffing his breath into her nostrils. Jewel glared at me almost accusingly, and I laughed. "You're meant to stay in your stable, stupid," I said to her. The foal's tail swished, and she stamped one tiny hoof and brayed again. I rolled my eyes, but smiled. The filly adored Gus, and followed him everywhere. Who was I to stop her? "You'll be the death of me, kiddo," I sighed to her, giving Gus a nudge and walking him down to the other end of the arena, the donkey following close behind.

~Kesha~
I walked down to the arena with Sasha close on my heels, she was a lovely mare and I loved her. She was the second horse I had ever riddin' and the first one I had ever galloped or barrel raced. I didn't care if she was a lesion horse she was my beauty and I liked to think of her as my horse. Her beautiful buckskin hide gleaming like sparkling gold, her ebony mane shining like a night sky. I smiled as I led her to the arena, life was so much better here, the it had been in New York. When she got to the arena she saw someone racing and stopped and smiled, they were good and their horse was amazing and wickedly fast. I glanced to Sasha and wondered if with a better rider she could do something that fast and be that good. I was still new to fast stuff and only really knew how to race on barrels. I smiled as I watched the horse and rider and Sasha kept her ears forward the entire time watching them, but she didn't make a sound. I smiled when the horse whirled around and there was a donkey there, that was one I had never seen before. I laughed under my breath when the little donkey started to follow him around, for a moment I thought about just turning around and leaving them but Sasha whiped her head and snorted, she wanted to run and was expecting me to work her so I finally got up enough courage to ask. "Umm... Mind if we join?" I patted Sasha on the shoulder thinking maybe I should have just went to the Indoor ring...

I glanced up, hearing a girl's voice. I smiled as she asked shyly to join us. We must have looked pretty ridiculous, walking around with Jewel following. I laughed and nodded, motioning her over. "Sure, the more the merrier!" I called out. Her horse was gorgeous, and Gus seemed to think so too. My gelding whipped his head appreciatively, his chestnut mane flicking me in the face. "Hey, cut it out!" I chuckled, still watching the girl and her horse. She looked a little unsure about coming over, so I halte Gus to wait for her. Jewel snorted and nipped the gelding's flank, and he ignored her, placidly taking it. "We're about to do some barrels and stuff, if you wanna join," I smiled to the girl. "Oh, and I'm William Crosby by the way! But you can call me Will." I grinned to her and dipped my head, suddenly wishing I had a hat on so my scruffy hair didn't seem so, well...scruffy.

I smiled my wide smile and rubbed Sasha's neck lovingly. I opened the gate and entered Sasha following on heels lime the perfect lady that she was, once I had closed the gate again I flipped the reins over her neck and mounted. I smiled again and laughed under my breath when his horse hit him with his mane. I licked my lips and gathered my reins asking Sasha to walk. I smiled and said, "yeah I love barrels although I suck at them." I said with a little laugh, everyone said I was pretty good but I never really thought I was. Sasha snorted and whipped her tail hitting me in the back of the arm giving it a sting. I jerked my arm and said, "thanks Sash." I nodded and said, "nice to meet you I'm Kesha Morgan but most call me Kes." I said the last part with a little ehh... In my voice I hated it when people called me Kes. I glanced back down at Sasha's neck and smiled thinking that his hair was kinda cute, and as usual my thoughts made me keep my eyes on my horse. But then I smiled said, "this is Sasha by the way." I patted her beautiful golden neck and added, "well actually her name is some weird Spainish name I can't say right." I said with a wide grinn.

I watched as the girl led her horse through the gate. She had a pretty smile, I thought to myself. I glanced away, then looked back up as they walked over. I laughed at her comment. "Aw, I doubt that," I said to her with a smile. "I'm sure you'll be great at it. Looks like you got a good little horse there too," I said. That was definitely the truth, the mare looked like she'd seen it all, a bit like my Gus. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Kesha," I smiled to her. I walked Gus on, ignoring his snort as Jewel reared at him in irritation. "This here is Gus," I tod Kesha, giving the chestnut a friendly rub on the neck. "And that annoying little thing is my donkey filly Jewel. She kinda follows Gus everywhere and makes a nuisance of herself, but we love her just the same." I grinned and glanced down as Jewel cantered in front of us, lashing out with her hind legs and bucking like a bronc. I glanced up at Kesha and noticed she was looking down at her mare's neck. She looked a little embarrassed, in my opinion. I smiled when she introduced her horse. "She's a looker," I said in admiration. Gus snorted, as if he was jealous, and I chuckled. I laughed more at what Kesha said about being unable to pronounce Sasha's name. "Well, Gus' full name is Twinkle in my Eye, but I think he prefers Gus anyway," I grinned, with a wink. I trotted him over to the start of the barrel course and glanced at Kesha. "Wanna run first?" I asked her, being polite out of habit.

I leaned down and rubbed Sash's neck, I smiled and patted her neck before looking back up. I smiled, "Yeah Sasha is trained in like everything." I said with a proud smile, I loved that buckskin mare so much I didn't ever want to give her up for another horse. I smiled and rocked in my seat asking Sasha to walk on and she did as told. I smiled and said, "its a pleasure to meet you too." I chuckled and watched the little donkey filly, I glanced at his horse and thought he was very pretty for a chestnut. It had never really been my favorite color but his horse was pretty nice looking. I patted Sash's neck and smiled watching the filly again. "He's pretty and she's cute." I said with a small smile. I stroked Sasha's neck and smiled at him and said, "yeah most of the horses around here are beautiful, the owner has a real flare for finding the beautiful ones." I loved hanging out with all of Barbie's horses, my favorites were Cas, Aqustin, Signet and JJ. I smiled and said, "yeah I think Gus fits him better." I smiled and looked back at Sasha for a moment and then looked up when he trotted over to the start I smiled, "nah... you go first." I said with a grin I wanted to get Sasha more warmed up first and I figured that since he was here first he should go first.

I laughed and watched Kesha rub Sasha's neck, then smiled. "She looks like she's pretty well trained," I said with a nod. I grinned at what she said, and then laughed. "Yeah, she's cute but evil," I said with a small grimace. "She's an excape artist, she can get out of anywhere you put her," I laughed, glancing down at Jewel. She wandered off in the arena, every now and then looking up to make sure Gus hadn't vanished. I smiled to Kesha when she mentioned all the pretty horses around here. I'd noticed the same thing. "Yeah, they're all lookers, I agreed with a smile. I laughed to her and nodded. "Yeah, Gus is better," I agreed with a laugh. "Well, if you're sure," I said with a wink, and with one kick I spurred Gus on. He galloped like the hounds of hell were at his heels, spinning tight around the first barrel. I was already looking at the second, legs flapping as I kicked him on. He spun around the second barrel and lowered his neck, racing for the third. I grabbed the horn as I hauled him around the top barrel, then stood in my stirrups and leaned low over his neck, my reains nearly at his ears. "Go Gus, GO!" I yelled, and Gus went. His legs flew as he shot down towards the finish, arrowing past Kesha and Sasha like a bullet. I leaned back and with a quiet "Whoa!" Gus skidded to a stop, sand flying in arches on either side of us. Gus let out a loud snort and I laughed, slapping his neck affectionately. "Good boy," I murmured as I reined him around to walk back over to Kesha and Sasha. I grinned to her, then winced at a sudden sharp pain in my left leg. I looked down and saw Jewel, and reached down to slap her nose lightly away. "Don't bite!" I growled at her. Jewel backe up a couple of steps, took a deep breath and brayed at me loudly. I rolled my eyes then grinned up at Kesha. "Told you she's evil," I said with a laugh. I dropped my reins on Gus' neck and leaned forward, my arms crossed and resting on the saddle's horn.

I swung the hair out of my face and smiled. "Yeah the owner kinda prizes her horses and their abilities to be great horses." I said with a wide grin, one of the most beautiful horses I had ever seen was her black Morab mare Sierra. I laughed and tugged on a peace of Sasha's mane, "I can believe that, everyone thinks my dogs Duch and Ninook are the sweetest little angels." I said with a sweet voice and the huffed, "yeah right! They are like demons in a dogs body!" I said with a laugh. I laughed and watched him barrel race his horse was so fast, they did most of their work in a blur and I just smiled. I burst out laughing when the little donkey bit him, "yeah I can see that!" I said smiling at what he said, I smirked and kicked Sasha into gear, she whipped her head and lunged forward into a flat out gallop. I took her around to the start of the barrel course and then kicked her into faster gait. She slid around the first barrel like a horse that had done this all her life, I kicked her onto the next barrel when she spun around it I thought I was gonna hit my foot on the ground! She lunged forward into a flat out gallop for the thrid barrel. "Come on! Get Sash!" I said and she did, she snorted and flattened out and was almost level with the ground. I laughed and grabbed the horn as we went around the last barrel. When she lunged back out into a gallop I kicked her more and yelled, "Go girl go!" She snorted and ran faster, I smiled and leaned over her neck and flicked my reins up and down and she snorted and ran faster, her golden muscles rippled and her tail was held high. I smiled as I felt her body flex under mine as she ran racing for the finish. When we got the stop point I pulled her up and with a whoa. When she started sliding to a stop she had to throw in a couple bucks to stop herself. Cause she did do the reining stops, I turned her on a dime and trotted back over to Will, with a bright smile. "Told ya she was good." I said giving her all the credite and none to me. I couldn't even think about what she could do with a rider that had been barrel racing all their lives! I laughed and tried to fix my tangled and messed up hair, I loved this! I laughed as Sash whipped her head and whinied, "oh shush." I said with a laugh still trying to fix my crazy hair and then I said, "jeez my hair looks like some crazy jungle persons hair!" I exclaimed with another laugh.

I laughed to Kesha at what she said about her dogs. "They sound fun," I said with a wink. Still resting on the saddle's horn, I watched as Kesha and Sasha took the barrels, and my jaw nearly dropped open. The little mare was like a bullet. Gus' head whipped up as if he was watching them too. When they skidded to a halt and trotted back over to us, I turned to Kesha with a laugh. "I thought you said you weren't any good at barrels!" I grinned to her. "That was awesome!" I could tell she thought it was all the horse, but anyone who could stick to a turn like that was definitely a good rider. "Really, it was," I said with a genuine smile. I laughd at what she said about her hair, running a hand absentmindedly through my own sandy curls. "No it doesn't," I laughed to her. Although that was a pretty good description of what my hair looked like on a regular basis.

I finger brushed out my hair and smiled, I couldn't help but feel a little proud when people gave me complaments. "Well I said I didn't think I do it very good, other people seem to think I'm pretty." I shook my head whipping my hair around and then smiled, "I wouldn't any kind of rider if it wasn't for Sash." I said patting and rubbing her neck, she was the first horse I had ever galloped. "Also I can thank the owner she is an awesome teacher! When I first got her I had only like trotted a horse like five times!" I said with a big smile, I laughed and shook out my hair again. "Umm... yeah it does it always does when I ride my hair lose." I said with a chuckle, I looked over when I heard a dog yipping and whining. It was Ninook, his chocolate brown coat shining in the sun as he stood at the edge of the arena, his blue eye looked like he was blind in it from here, and his brown ones looked black. I smiled and then frowned where was Duchess? I looked around for the blond husky if Ninook was here she was. I heard a yip and looked down just as she jumped and put her front paws on Sasha's side. I laughed and said, "Duch its a good thing she's used to you doing that!" I said with a laugh. I looked back at Will and said, "the one outside the arena the horse phobic Ninook and this one that will shove her head into your face every chance she gets no matter what you are doing. Is Duchess or Duch." I said with a laugh scratching Duch's head.

I laughed to Kesha, half rolling my eyes. "Well you should give yourself more credit," I said to her. "You should think more highly of yourself. You did great!" I smiled to her and then laughed. "She does look like an awesome horse," I agreed. She would make things easier, certainly, but you would still have to be a good rider to stay with a horse like that. I smiled to Kesha again. I hadn't taken any lessons from the owner, but I'd heard good things about her teaching. "She sounds like a good teacher," I said with a smile. I glanced up when I heard a dog, then laughed as Kesha said it was hers. I didn't even notice the dog up against her horse until she introduced it. "They're cool names," I said with a laugh. I'd never owned a dog before, but I'd always wanted one. I laughed at Kesha's explanation of Duchess, then looked back over to the one she called Ninook. "What breed are they?" I asked Kesha curiously. As much as I liked dogs, I knew pretty much nothing about them. Jewel brayed and skittered across the arena, bolting towards the fence and bucking. I frowned and called her over to me. "Jewel, get here you crazy little thing!" I yelled. The donkey stared at me, with a 'huh, yeah right!' expression on her face. She hee-hawed at me, then galloped off again, bucking madly through the whole arena. I sighed, and Gus did the same at the same time. I laughed at the gelding; both of us knew that Jewel never did what she was told.

I smiled and tucked my hair behind my ear and tilted my head to the side. "Well ya grow up in the bad part of the city ya don't get much credit." I said slightly under my breath, my sister always hated it when I spoke about all the stuff that had happened back in New York. But I didn't really care if people knew or what they thought. I lived through it and I was proud of myself and who I was. I smiled and said, "thanks. And I don't think I could live without Sash, she's my best friend besides the dogs." I smiled and rubbed Duch's ears. "Barbie is an awesome Teacher! She knows so much and has done so much with her life its hard to believe all the stuff she has done." I said with a big grin, I laughed and pushed Duch down telling her to get out of the arena. "Thanks, I named her after the blond husky on snow dogs and Ninook I just think of Alaska. So I thought it would be perfect." I said watching Duchess's blode hide race out of the arena and tackle Ninook. I laughed and shook my head, I looked back to will and said. "They are both pure bred huskies, my sister owns their black brother Demon." I laughed and watched the Donkey filly she was cute and then I laughed more at Will. "Does that ever work? Trying to tell them what to do?" I said with a smile. Sasha snorted and whipped her head at the young filly and snorted again. I smiled and rubbed her neck, she acted like such a busy body sometimes.

I frowned at what Kesha said, but knew better than to pry into her life. I just hoped nothing bad had happened. I smiled as she lightened up when she talked about her dogs. It was obvious that she loved them. I laughed and nodded, understanding where the names came from. "Oh, right," I said when she told me they were huskies. I only knew basic dog breeds, anything else was just a dog to me. I half shrugged and then laughed. "If it was a Labrador or a German Shepherd, I could pick it," I said to Kesha. "Other than that, I have no idea when it comes to dogs." I grinned, and then shook my head with a pained expression. "No, no it never does work," I laughed to her. Jewel cantered around the arena with her head down, bucking whenever she felt like it. I sighed, shaking my head. "She's definitely a free spirit, Jewel just does what she likes," I said, chuckling. No matter what I wanted her to do, Jewel always had her own agenda. Which mainly involved breaking out of whever I'd put her. Gus snorted, and shook himself like a dog, jolting me almost out of the saddle. "Hey, what was that for?" I snapped at him, giving him a dig in the ribs and spinning him in a circle. He snorted and then stopped, hanging his head meekly. I relented, and gave him a rub on the neck. "You're just bored, aren't you boy?" I said with a sigh. Gus did his job to perfection, no matter what he was asked, but he wasn't a real big fan of standing still and making small talk.

I noticed him frown but chose not tell him so, my life had beem bad enough I didn't need to drag him into my bad memories. I laughed and nodded, "yeah my sister always wanted one so when I saw the three little pups in the store I just had to get them! And well I ended up with two crazy dogs." I said with a big grin, "yeah there are tons of dogs running around this area, Barbie has two a mix and a malamute. Man he's beautiful!" I laughed and shook my head, "yeah didn't think so most animals just do what they want especily ones from the equis family, and yupp she sure acts like one." I said with a wide grinn, I chuckled under my breath when Gus shook off like a dog. "Aww... poor guy being all bored." I said with a small smile tilting my head to the side with a grin, Sash whipped her head and pawed the ground. I pulled back on the reins and said, "whoa." She snorted and whipped her head one more time before sighing and dropping her head.

I laughed and nodded to Kesha. "I've always wanted to get myself a dog, but I think I've got my hands full with Jewel," I said, laughing. I watched the filly run and buck, then rolled my eyes and turned back to Kesha. I chuckled and gave Gus a rub on the neck. "He gets bored easy," I said with a smile. "If he's doing all the fast stuff he loves it, he can run forever pretty much. But once he's standing still doing nothing, his poor brain can't handle it." I laughed as Gus snorted and bobbed his head like he was agreeing. I grinned when Kesha's mare pawed out at the ground. "Looks like she's getting a little bored too," I said with a smile. I raised my eyebrows and then grinned, an idea coming to me. "What do you say about taking these two for a run?" I asked Kesha. "Find a trail, just a long straight stretch, and have a race." I leaned back in my saddle and watched Kesha, waiting to see if she'd agree. Gus neeed a good long run, and he got super competetive. Plus, I wanted to see if Kesha's mare was actually as fast as I thought she was. Gus was super speedy, and not many other horses could beat him, but I had a feeling that Sasha probably could if she tried.

I laughed and ruffled Sasha's mane before looking to Will. "Yeah she looks like a handfull," I said smiling a small smile tilting my head to the side. I laughed and smiled wide watching the filly buck around the arena, I looked back to Will and said. "I see..." I laughed and added, "yeah well most horses that do fast stuff hate to hold still." Sasha whipped her head and nickered and then swished her tail. I laughed and rubbed her neck, she flipped her head and twiched back her ears at me. I laughed and tilted my head to the side looking to Will. "Yeah normally she would have tried to take off with me already! She hates standing still! Lucky for her so do I!" I laughed crossing my arms over saddle horn and relaxing. I smiled a wide grinn and sat back up in my saddle and said, "heck yeah!" I answered with a laugh, "that would be awesome! Sash hasn't run against another horse in like forever!" I loved racing and trails. And Sash hated it when others got ahead or her, she was such a sore loser too. I grinned and said, "and Sash hates to lose." I laughed and smiling a tight smile, this was gonna be fun! I sat up in my stirrups to adjust my pant legs and then sat back down smiling. Sash snorted and whipped her head, she always got hyper when I got excited which was a lot of the time.

I laughed, agreeing with Kesha. "Yeah, most of the quick ones fidget. That's why me and Gus suck at showing," I said with a laugh. I grinned when Kesha agreed to go for a run. "Bring it on!" I said with a laugh. "Gus doesn't like losing either, but he just might against Sasha," I grinned. I nudged Gus' sides and walked him over to the gate, leaning down and opening it from atop him. I swung it open wide enough for Kesha and Sasha to follow, then whistled for Jewel. She came galloping up to us, running straight underneath Gus and cavorting around him in circles. I sighed, and shrugged, grinning. "Nothing I can do about it," I muttered, smiling. I turned in my sadle to grin back at Kesha. "Any idea of the good trails?" I asked her. I hadn't hacked out yet so I didn't know where the best trails were, or what the country around here was like. I gave Gus a slap on the shoulder, getting excited. He danced under me, feeling my excitement. He wanted to run, and I had to hold him back with most of my strength to stop him from bolting right there.

I laughed and nodded. "Yups they hate it when thye have to stand still. I don't know how me and Sash would do at showing since we have never been in one before." I said smiling leaning forward rubbing Sasha's neck. I grinned and let Sash jog after him over to the gait, when she got to it she slowed down and walked out calmly. I smiled at Jewel and said, "she seems like a tag-along baby to me." I kicked forward and she trotted a little ways away from the arena and I spun her around so that I could look at Will. "Yeah there is this one that goes down a big hill and then theres this huge willow tree and that place has a huge completely flatt meadow." I said with a grin and then said, "oh and Sash is a sore loser to and don't be surprised if I fall off from the speed!" I said jokingly. Sash whipped her head as if saying don't joke about that! I laughed and rubbed her neck, I loved her so much she had so much spirit and personality. "Shall we lead the way?" I asked gesturing to me and Sasha, she knew the trails even better then I did and she knew the area I was talking about, I always took her there for a run. I grinned thinking of how as soon as she hit the bottom of that hill she'd take off at a gallop. Duch ran over and raced around Sasha's legs, Sash stomped her foot when the dogs tail brushed her stomach. "Duch Go!" I said and she dropped her tail before lifting it again and racing off with Ninook into the stable somewhere. "They don't go with me on trails. Duch would trip my horse!" I said with a laugh.

I laughed at Kesha. "I'm sure you two would be great," I said with a smile. I watched and waited as she rode out of the arena, and laughed at what she said. "Yeah, you got that right," I grinned, glancing at the donkey. "Where Gus goes, Jewel follows," I said, smiling. "Yet another reason we'd fail at showing." I leaned down and rubbed the filly's head. She bucked and took off, looking back at us like she wanted us to hurry up. "That sounds perfect to me!" I said, loving the sound of the trail Kesha described. Gus whipped his head and snorted in agreement. I laughed, then nodded to Kesha. "Sure, go ahead!" I said with a grin. We'd end up completely lost if I led the way. Gus lowered his head to watch the dogs carefully, tensing as Duchess ran all around Kesha's mare. I calmed him with a pat, then laughed as Kesha sent the dogs away. "If only Jewel was that well behaved," I laughed, pushing Gus into a slow walk.

I smiled wide and sat back in my saddle. "Uhmm... I think we would do okay but I'm not sure I would really like the whole showing thing. I mostly ride for fun not winning, I'd dance to win though!" I said smiling my bright wide smile, I loved singing and dancing, I ws really good at it too. Usually I was modest about my riding and stuff like that but I did know that I was a talented singer and dancer. I laughed and nodded, "yeah kinda figured that since she was in the arena with you." I said with a small smile, "I see yeah that could be a problem if she was out there with you!" I laughed patting Sash'a neck. I smiled and rocked in my saddle getting my legs in the right postsion for a run, "great!" I said asking Sash to walk towards the trails, I turned in my seat and smiled, "well come along tag-alongs!" I said with laughing at myself, I was getting so hyper. I laughed and threw a look back at him and said, "she must be showing off for new people cause normally its just Ninook who listens Duch usually ends up with me somewhere along the line! She is a sneak!" I said laughing.

I laughed, and smiled to Kesha. "So you're a dancer then huh?" I asked with a grin. "What type of dancing do you do?" I smile to her, I wasn't poking fun at her. I would never admit it to anybody else, but I loved watching dancers, of any kind. I couldn't dance myself, but there was something cool about watching people dance. I chuckled at Kesha and let my shoulder lift and drop in a half shrug. "Nothing I can do about it though. Jewel's a wild child!" I laughed and followed Kesha and her mare. Gus steppe out smartly, tossing his head and letting his copper mane flip to the other side of his neck. I grinned and let one hand rest on my thigh, guiding the big gelding along with my legs and one hand. I grinned to Kesha and laughed. "Sounds like Jewel a bit," I said, laughing. "No matter how many times I lock her away and tell her to stay put, she eventually ends up wherever Gus is." I grinned and looked behind me. Jewel was slowly following us, sniffing at different things and cantering to catch up, every now and then throwing in a happy little buck. She brayed at a bird on the side of the path, and skittered over, cutting in front of Gus and rearing before taking off and running circles around our little group. I rolled my eyes at her and sighe for the millionth time. "So how long have you been here for?" I asked Kesha, smiling to her and giving Gus a nudge so he'd jog and catch up. I slowed him to a walk when we were alongsid Sasha and Kesha and kept pace with them easily.

I smiled and turned my head to look at Will. "Yupp. And mostly fast stuff you know pop and dance music, but I've been told that I am a very good slow dancer but I like the other kind better." I said with a smile, I loved talking about my dancing it was my singing I was a bit shy about I mean I knew I was a good singer but I never really liked having others hear me do so. Sash whipped her head and snorted happily, she knew where we were going and was getting excited for the ahead of her. "Yeah she sure seems like it!" I said laughing, today was turning out be pretty fun, I thought. Sasha neighed like she could read my thoughts and agreed with them, I smiled and patted her neck lovingly. I laughed and nodded knowing what he was talking about with Jewel. "Yeah one time Duch got out of a locked dorm room! How I have never figured out, came back and the door was wide open and Ninook was still fast asleep on my bed. My dogs are weird!" I said laughing and then added, "one of the new racers for this barn does that a lot I guess gets out of her stall and follows people around." I said laughing, the new horses were all beautiful and I would love to ride one sometime but I didn't think I would ever be good in anything but a western saddle and I was fine with that. I thought to myself when he asked how long I had been here and thought it out, "hmm... maybe a year or a little under that... I dunno really, lifes good here no reason to count the days." I said with a smile, that's how I lived if life was good live it! Don't dwell on what could have been! I used this cause I never could keep track of what year it was so it was easier. (That is really how I am I suck at keeping track of stuff like how long )

I laughed to Kesha and nodded. "That's cool," I said to her with a smile. It wasn't the first time I'd wished I could do something besids riding. I loved horses, and I loved riding, but when that was the only thing on the 'Things Will can do' list, it made things pretty boring. I laughed to what Kesha said and nodded. "Yeah, Jewel will escape from a stall that's bolted shut, tied with a lead rope and has things in front of the door. I don't know how she does it!" I said with a grin. I smiled at the mention of a racer escaping to follow people. That was something you wouldn't see every day! I laughed to Kesha. "Fair enough," I said with a smile. Why keep track of the days if they were all good? I looked around the trail and smiled, thinking that it was a pretty good moral to keep. Still, I always knew roughly how long I'd been somewhere, just in case I ended up needing to fill out on a document or something when I'd arrived. I loosened out Gus' reins and let him have his head as he walked along. (Haha I always keep track of things I'm weird like that)

I smiled and looked to Will. "Yupp my sister used to be a cheerleader too, but she always liked dancing better. So she kinda of inspired me." I said with a weak smile, our mother had been a dancer... Well that's what Lucy told me, but I never knew her cause she died when she had me. That's when our dad turned into a drunk, from what Lucy told me he was a fun guy before she died but even before that he had been a little to quick to hit people and after our mother died he blamed me. I suddenly felt very aware of the scars on my back and the few on my arms. Even my cheek was scarred but not much you really had to look to see the long thin scar. My dad gave it to me with a broken bear bottle. Being lost in these thoughts made me shudder and goose bumps raise on my arms. I snapped out of it and said, "yeah she sounds like the equin version of Duchess." I laughed trying to block the thoughts out of my mind and foucus on Will. "Yeah I don't usually keep track of days but I do remember the immortent stuff like dates of when something really good happens. I joined this stable December 10th and met Sash December 12th. I don't always remember the year but I always remember the date of something good. Don't usually have a year to go with it but always a month and a day." I said but if you grew up where I did all this made sense forget any bad day and prize the good ones.
(Haha I keep track of like days but I suck at years! Dunno why but I do.)

I laughed. "Sounds like an interesting family," I said with a smile. I noticed Kesha seemed to withdraw into herself for a while, lost in thought. I didn't want to pry into her life, but I hated seeing people distressed. "Hey, are you okay?" I asked her gently, watching her worriedly. I saw her shudder, and she seemed to shake everything off. I managed a grin, and nodded with a small chuckle. "Yeah, you gotta love animals. Can't live with em, can't live without em," I smiled. I gave Gus a friendly slap on the neck as he walked along. His ear flicked back in recognition, then returned to its pricked up position. He was loving this trail, and he deserved it too. He hadn't been out for a hack for a good long while. I laughed to Kesha and nodded. "I guess I'm a bit OCD with things like that," I said, smiling. "I always need to remember everything. I have a habit of writing down every little important detail, just in case I need it someday," I said, grinning sheepishly. "I remember the day, date, year, sometimes even the time and place," I laughed to Kesha.

I just shrugged with no real smile to his statment, I was never really happy remembering anything in my past. "Yeah..." I said and shook myself mentally trying to shake the thoughts of my dad. I almost jumped but kept myself from doing so when he asked if I was okay. "Umm... yeah... Well kinda... Its hard to explain." I said brushing it off and smiling. Sash whipped her head and nickered, I knew she knew I was getting upset and she didn't like it. I laughed, "yeah it would be immposible to live without our animals, I think their what keeps me sane." I said with a bright smile. Sometimes I wished that I had my own horse but then I thought about giving up Sasha and the thought hurt a little bit so I didn't think about it. I smiled and nodded, "yeah my sisters like obsesed with keeping everything neat and in order! But she runs the tack shop most of the time. And her dog keeps it anything but neat." I said laughing thinking of all the times he had gotten into the grain, pulled over the saddle racks, spilt grains and even chewed up a stirrup when he was little. "I don't know how she keeps her job with that dog around!" I exclaimed laughing some more, I smiled and said, "some times I remeber times if what happened happened on a really good day but other then that I just brush it all off." I said with a shrug and smile. I looked around and found the tree I called the mile marker, we weren't really a mile out but it still marked where the hill was, it was about a hundred feet in front of us around one turn. I felt Sasha tense with wanting to run. I smiled and said, "almost there."

I gave Kesha a rueful smile, and glanced over at her briefly. "Well, if you ever wanna explain it, I'm always here," I said quietly to her. After that, I decided to drop the subject. If Kesha didn't want to talk about her past, that was perfectly okay with me. I always felt bad for people who kept things inside though. It seemed like they were never completely happy. I smiled and nodded when she started talking about her animals. "Same here," I agreed. "Although other times I think they're what drives me insane!" I grinned, gesturing to Jewel who was scampering down the trail, bucking, then running back to us. I laughed as Kesha talked about her sister and her dog. "And she's allowed to keep him at work?" I asked, surprised. As far as I knew, most places wouldn't allow you to keep your pet with you while you worked. I smiled to Kesha and nodded absentmindedly, then grinned when she said we were nearly there. "You getting ready to go boy?" I murmured to Gus, rubbing his neck and then leaning back and giving his rump a gentle slap. The gelding nickered and tossed his head enthusiastically, stepping out and flicking his ears back and forth. "I think Sasha's told him this is where they run," I laughed to Kesha. It did seem like the two horses were talking to each other with some unspoken language, twitching their ears and tossing their heads. Gus started jogging slowly, and I had to rein him back to a walk several times. "Keep your energy for the race big guy," I laughed to him.

I glanced side ways to him and nodded. "Thanks I'll remeber that and I'm not sure its a good idea to give me free rein to talk." I said with a light laugh and then dropped it. I would gladely talk about what a bastard my father was but Lucy brought us here to forget about it and I didn't want to put more pressure on her. I smiled to myself thinking of the last place we had been when I cursed another girl for something she said about me and my sister and I cursed like a sailar and told her every detail of what had happened to me, she got scared and never bothered me again. But it embarresed Lucy cause she hated it when people looked at her with pity and that's exactly what everyone did too. I burst out laughing and said, "yeah that is deffently what Duch is trying to do to me but my mind isn't easy to dive over the edge." I said with a smirk and then added with a shrug, "but according to Luc its already over the edge." I said wit ha bright smile. Me and my sister were always messing with each that way. I smiled and said, "yupp its the feed store so I guess they didn't think nothing of it to much cause he's always there I think more of the stores dog then hers anymore. He loves tormenting the poor store cat." I said shaking my head thiniking of all the time me or Luc had to save the little kitty kat from Demon. I laughed and said. "Maybe she did, if they are talking she is probably talking a bunch of crap about how she's gonna win." I said only half joking cause I swear sometimes Sash seemed to be totally full of herself and acted like she was top dog of the kennal club. I laughed and said, "so he need to save it huh?" We were at the corner and right around it was the hill it wasn't that steep but not a lot of rider wanted to run down it, but me I loved running down it and Sash did too. She was awesome at going down hills. I loosened the reins and clicked my tongue letting her pick up a fast trot. She soon went into a fast lope and went around the corner and started down the hill at a slow gallop. Once you hit that bottom that's where the real race would be, cause the streach was about a hundred and fifty feet long and perfectly flatt and I threw a look over my shoulder and said, "coming? Cause she's gonna blow at the bottom!" I wasn't bragging just stating a fact.

I chuckled at Kesha's reply, but let the matter drop. I smiled when she talked about Duchess, and then laughed at her explanation of her sister's dog. "What a handful," I laughed to her, shaking my head. Maybe I shouldn't even think about getting a dog, since they seemed so...Well, too much like Jewel. I grinned when Kesha and Sasha started trotting, and pushed Gus after them. I glanced down the hill, and figured Gus would start flying once he hit level ground. As Kesha and her mare galloped down the hill, I pushed Gus into a fast canter to keep pace with them. I didn't want him galloping until they were actually racing, since it would be hard enough to beat Sasha. "Oh, I'm right behind ya!" I grinned, urging Gus up alongside the others. "Let's keep them even til we hit the bottom!" I said to Kesha, trying to keep Gus next to Sasha as they ran down the hill. I couldn't wait til we hit the bottom and the race was really on! "You got this Gussy boy," I grinned to the gelding. His ears were folded back against his head to keep out the wind, and he snorted in excitement. I heard Jewel bray behind us, but didn't turn back to see where she was. Instead, I focused on keeping Gus next to Kesha's speedy mare.

Sash snorted when Will and Gus pulled up next to us and I smiled. She was so ready to show off, I kept her even but I knew she didn't need it, normally she would race down this hill and then across the flatt. The bottom was only about four feet away and I knew what was gonna happen I loosened the reins, I looked to Will and said, "well here's the bottom for me!" And Sasha leaped the distance landing on the flatt and then she lunged into a flatt gallop, I loved this feeling and didn't even look back to see if Will was catching up or not, I just wanted the run. I needed the run even more then the horses did this pushed the thoughts out of my mind and made me feel like I was out running my past. I didn't care if they said you could never out run the past or your memories but heck who cares you can for a short time. I flicked my reins and leaned forward over Sash's neck and I felt her speed as she burst underneith me. Sasha snorted and rushed forward so willing to do anything I asked her to and I felt so lucky to have her, she was my best friend the one that would always know my secrets.
