KAYLA
I was smiling when we reached the training arena, good its empty, I thought, it would be better for Gunpowder, if he had the ring all to him self, I walked him around to the gates to make sure they were all locked and a horse couldn't get of them, I got him going in a walking circle, I waited till he got used to that and then had him move to a trot, I watched him waited for something, and when it didn't come I sped him to a canter, there, there it is, I thought, now its time, I called for the stop and he gladly did it but he was a little hyper now, I gave him a treat and unclipped the lead I waited and sent him out again, this with no lead I asked for the trot then the canter and then when he settled into a nice smooth canter, I had moved close to the rail, I had a plan in mind, as he circled around me, he seemed fine with this, OK lets try something else the point of this was to find his temper points, I asked him to stop turn around and go the other way, he did, as he did, he seemed more tense going this way, OK now were getting somewhere, I thought, I asked for the canter and there his temper went and he started bucking, but I was faster I turned lunged on to the rails, he calmed I made him do it again, then I on the again, I did this about 10 times and on the 10th time I stayed on the ground, but with the lunge whip in my hand, when he charged me, I swung the rope peace hitting the ground right in front of me he slid to a stop, I looked into his eyes, there was a rage there, but also a fear, he was learning respect, I didn't drop the lunge but took a step closer and gave him a treat he calmed and then I sent him in his circle again and this time, when he charged me I did something he wasn't expecting "whoa" I yelled and hit the ground, with the whip again, he pulled up faster this time and I held out his treat he walked up to me and took it, "good job boy" I said to him, I sent him around again, and again, about the 16th time he came running at me again and I yelled " whoa" without the whip and he stooped short, and I doped the whip and and held out my hand, he walked up to me and licked for the treat that was not there and with a pat on the neck I clipped my lead back on him and walked over to where you could groom your horse, I picked up brush's and started to groom him out, I thought about cooling him off but the last time, he charged I just stood there with him and had him follow me around a bit so that had most likely cooled him off, while I worked I thought there might be somebody coming but wasn't sure, I just kept on working, "I'm very proud of you, boy" I told him, I was also very proud of myself. "I wish some one could have seen use" I said I was very proud of both of use.
