~ Kris Llewellyn ~
She drove up the drive with her horse trailer in tow, life had been okay for her recently and she had found out that her parents had moved up here and thought it would be a good time to make up with her dad finally. Athena was with her grandma so that Kris could check in her horses at the ranch or school but Kris always preferred to call most places ranches. She parked near the stable and rested her head on hands and thought that maybe she should just move back to D.C. and forgot about trying to get a new start, maybe it wasn't time yet to truly start over, after all could you really even start over? Truly start over? Her life mistake that she never saw as mistake had earned her many names from scornful people. People had called her a slut, a hoe, and much worse. People whispered behind her back that she had thrown her life away with her carelessness again not true but did anyone care? Nope. No one ever stopped to think that maybe she had just been a flirt and liked to tease or that maybe things happened that you couldn't control or just couldn't think through. Kris fought the urge to cry and go home. She tried to hold back the painful sting of the memories of people saying. "Why is she a mother?" "I feel sorry for her parents having the shame she brings to them." Why did people have to be so dang judgmental, didn't they know their words hurt? Maybe it would be different here maybe there wouldn't be mean little kids that would hurt Athena. The memory was fresh in her mind of her baby girl running home crying from a kids playday with the local kids, she later found out that some of the kids had repeated the cruel thing their parents had said about her. Kris sat up and sighed wiping away the tears that had snaked out of her eyes. "d*mn girl you need to get on with your life." She said to herself as she jumped out of her truck and headed to the trailer, she smiled when Scorpio hopped out of the truck and trotted next to her. "Century!" She called and heard the little mare whinny happily to the familiar voice of her first and only owner. "Sly Sly Foxy Boy!" The big gelding cry came from inside at her call, she smiled and unbolted the trailer and said. "5-o-o-o!" She was greeted by the paint gelding happy cry at seeing her, the other two wouldn't call out to her yet but Dorado would stomp and nicker to her on site and Navy was huffing and shaking from the long trip, the mustang was fresh off the plains and still a little nervous about everything.
