"What else did you hurt?" Summer asked, following Tarlar to costco, hoping Z would follow along to continue the conversation. She started making mental notes of what to buy: red cups, soda, chips, and other snacks to nom on. And some kind of interesting lighting, like a disco ball type thing or something.

Z smiled and walked along with Summer. "Well let's see. I broke a few of ribs, cracked a few as well. Fractured my cheek and jaw bone, my elbow got broke and a horse landed on my knee cap and then landed on my chin." She tilted her head a little bit. "I was in traction for months and then I was in a wheel chair at home, and then after that still months of wearing a cast. The doctor said I was lucky my jaw wasn't broken," she said with a thighed smile. "That was almost three years ago now" she said nodding and looking around.

"Oh wow. Well at least you're still riding. Were you afraid of riding after a while?" Summer asked, trying to remember if she was ever afraid of riding after she was hospitalized from a riding accident. She couldn't remember.

Z smiled at the question. "No not really. As soon as I could get back on a horse I got back on. The first horse I rode after that happened was my mare Shadow, she was the only horse I trusted for a while. Then I was riding a friends horse at her family's Morgan horse ranch and a stray dog came along and nipped at her heels and made her jump loose her footing, I fell clear of her but snagged my arm breaking it again. Witch is how I got this" she said pulling up her sleeve to revile a five inch scar right bellow her elbow. "Bone broke the skin, but it was a clean break and healed good" she said shacking her head. "It was after that, that my mom decided I was a reckless rider." She said rolling her eyes a bit. "But I haven't gotten a broken bone since I got here" she said with a smile.

"Oh..thats a lot of...injuries," Summer thought. More like too many in one time period, that's more of carelessness, Summer thought. "How long did it take for you to ride again the first time you fell? I've never really fallen from a horse spooking - well I have, but I didn't get injured. I usually fall and get injured going over cross country jumps awkwardly," Summer said with a small smile. Her mind went straight to one of her old team's horse shows where she completely failed going over one of the cross country jumps. It was a little embarrassing, but not as bad as the other things she had failed before.

"Well it took me a while to heal, and then I wouldn't ride any horse but my mare Shadow nothing could keep me from riding her and I just trusted her, so basically as soon as I was aloud on a horse I got back on. The only reason I broke my arm riding my friends horse was cause we were out in the field, horse zig zagged, I lost my balance, arm got stuck in the fence rails twisted the wrong way and snap. My dad always said I was immune to pain cause of how many times I have gotten hurt, my mom just said I was immune to learning. But after I moved here I started taking care when I rode and I haven't had anything like that happen since." She said walking along thinking back to that day.

"What do you mean you started taking care? You were a careless rider?" Summer asked. While fidgeting with her silver cuff bracelet that covered her tattoo, she began remembering some of the carefree riders on her old riding team and how they would fall off almost every week. At least most of them were nice girls, and not annoying cocky ones, she thought.

Tarlar crinkled her nose. "You know, it isn't cool to be careless," she said very bluntly. Mhmm. She had met a lot of these types. Though they were oh so cool for falling off and breaking their arm and riding the wild thoroughbreds. But in honesty, its because most of the time they needed to cover up their horrible riding skills with carelessness. Because its 'cooler' to fall off from being careless than not knowing how to control their own horse. That was why she was completely suited to Zephyrus. He was good for her, young, but well trained, and she would never grow out of him. But he did offer some challenges to her, and she could always go higher with the jumps to keep things interesting. But there was really no reason for her to try and buy a clearly untrained, kicking, biting, loco horse unless she intended on actually working the d*mn vices out. She sighed. People just didn't know what they were doing anymore.

Summer nodded slightly, even though she felt a little hypocritical. She had a careless streak as well, but only risked herself, no her horse. I agree with her, Summer thought, but didn't say anything in order not to cause problems or conflicts. Talking, or even thinking about riding was making her feel anxious. I really just want to get on a horse already..whether that means riding Firefly or the horse my dad wants me to buy, she thought. I guess visiting the horse will have to wait for tomorrow, because everyone seems pretty intent on planning this party.

Z thought for a moment. "Well yes and no. I was careless with myself but not when I was riding, that's just what my mom said about me. Yeah I had a lot of broken bones but I never did anything that would put my horse in danger so I wasn't really a careless rider. I was careless with my life, I was reckless, I was stupid and I learned my lesions" she said to Summer in a quite voice, she wasn't trying to defend herself, if she had been trying she would have brought a lot more up about her mom. The only reason she had ever been reckless was because her mother used to put her sister so much higher then her, her sister was always so much better, she was the good sister, the perfect one who never made any mistakes and it had always made her mad.
She snapped out of her thoughts and turned towards Tarlar. "Never said it was, in fact its about the stupidest thing there is, whether its with horses or your life" She stopped for a moment she wasn't gonna defend herself cause she saw no reason to, if people had problems with her past and couldn't accept the fact that she changed then they weren't worth it. "I was an idiot but I haven't made a stupid choice since I moved here" she said, she agreed with Tarlar and she didn't want to get into fight with anyone.
She decided to change the subject. "Do you go to Starry Skys?" she asked, she knew it was one of the most popular riding academies and she had never seen them around Willow Springs so she figured they didn't go there since they didn't say anything about it earlier when she said she went there.

"Yes, I transferred to Starry Skys today. I still have to check out the trails and especially the cross country course," Summer said, sliding her silver cuff bracelet around her wrist. Her phone vibrated in her pocket; it was her father. Signed you up for the academy's equestrian team, the text read. "Hey Tarlar - my dad posted a sign up sheet thing in the lounge room for the SS equestrian team. Are you gonna try out?" Summer asked, looking up from her phone. She walked into Cosco, looking through the aisles for red cups.

Z nodded. "Cool. My sister Carrie teaches beginner Show Jumping and Dressage there," she said. She glanced back to Summer. "Whoa that's cool that your stable has an Equestrian Team" she said with a smile.

"Yeah my dad started the team," Summer said with a weak smile, "I'm glad theres a team, but the fact that its my dad is just kinda annoying. He's just...annoying. I'm sure you understand." I doubt she does understand, actually, she has nooo idea what my father is like, Summer thought.

Z nodded. "That's cool." She laughed slightly, "well I know what its like to have an over barring annoying parent" she said with a smile. Her mom was a total heath nut and pretty much freaked about everything. She had always had a good friend in her father, he was the one who defended her to her mom most of the time. "Anyway its still cool that your stable has a team." She said smiling.

"Yeah...you should try and get one going at your school! Because then our teams can compete and it'll be all cool and official and stuff," Summer said with an excited smile. She picked a package thing of cups off of a shelf and put them in a shopping cart. "What else do we need, Tarlar?" she asked.

Z thought for moment. "Yeah that would be cool, might have to try some time, not like I have anything better to do right now" she said with a shrug.
