Griffon Griffon Stone strode up to the pasture, his brown Justins thumping the on the grass. It was a beautiful morning, it wasn't too hot yet but the sun was warm. He flipped his blonde hair back and looked out at the rolling green pastures, quickly spotting his horse Cisco. His gray quarter horse was eagerly munching on the grass about 40 yards away. Griffon quickly vaulted over the gate his muscles visible under the thin tee shirt he wore. The grass was relatively tall brushing at his light wash jeans. Leaning against the fence, Griffon stuck two fingers in his mouth and whistled sharply. He smiled when Cisco's head shot up ears erect and nickered. The dappled horse briskly trotted over to griffon. Cisco sniffed at Griffon's pockets checking for a carrot that was often stowed there. "Yeah your a smart boy aren't'cha?" Griffon spoke fondly, stroking the light gray fur on his horse's face. He reached into his back pocket, pulling out the long orange carrot letting his horse snap off bites. After the last bite Cisco nodded his head up and down vigorously and then reached out, lipping Griffon's face and leaving a streak of orangey slobber on his cheek. He blinked a few times and raised his eyebrows at his gelding, "thanks." he said as he whiped his horse's present off of his face. Griffon moved around to his horse's side, stroking along his whithers and spine, adjusting his midnight colored mane. Griffon sprang up, swinging his right leg around and adjusted himself on Cisco's back. "Good boy." he murmered, as he squeezed with his left leg, asking Cisco to turn to face the far side of the pasture. With a wild grin, Griffon kicked at Cisco's side sending him off into a gallop. He gripped a little mane as he asked Cisco to go even faster. It was the most exhilerating feeling that Griffon could think of. Galloping without a single piece of tack, his blonde hair flew back out of his face as he let out a joyous laugh. All he could hear was the thunder of Cisco's hooves, all he could see was a green blur of the pasture underneath him. Really Griffon couldn't be happier right now, it appeared as if Cisco felt the same way since he threw a buck and whinnied happily. Griffon was caught off guard but managed to hang on, he sat the second buck reasonably well too, the third go around how ever and he was flying through the air. Also not too bad a feeling if you excused the rough landing. He it the pasture with a thump rolling a few feet and laying there a bit winded but with a grin still plastered on his face. He heard hoofbeats and pretty soon Cisco stood over him, whuffing at his clothes and then face checking that he was okay. Griffon sat up a little stiffly at first, but soon realized nothing was hurt. He laughed still high on endorphins an adrealine stroking Cisco's face as the gelding nuzzled him. "Yeah your a good boy."

Shera had been on the trails with her mare Jazzie when she sighted the riding school, Starry Skys. The farm was a beauty and along with the school, many pastures laid about. Her eyes caught on a flash of movement in one pasture. A boy galloping on the back of a horse across the field. A grin spread across her face and she looked down at Jazzie.
The boy matched her riding outfit. Not their clothes... they both were without tack. She had trained Jazzie natural horsemanship and the boy looked as if to know something about it. Her eyes followed him from afar as they made their way at a gallop. It was a beautiful sight to see. Usually a male wouldn't show this side of him to others but a horse could definently change things.
She could see it before it happened. It started with a buck and then continued. Soon the boy was flying through the air and smacking into the ground. Shera couldn't help but laugh when he sat up and stroked the horse's face. Their bond was strong and she couldn't help but be intriged in it.
"It is supposed to be more like this!" She yelled loud enough for him to notice her although she was far from him. "Come on girl." She whispered as the Gypsy Vanner mare. Lifting her hooves, the tackless horse moved into a canter. A smile stayed on Shera's face as Jazzie spread her legs forward and into a gallop. Shera untangled her hands from the banner of the mare and allowed them to open wide to either side of her. "Woo hoo!" She screamed as they thundered across the farm. Shera took a deep breath before shutting her eyes and allowing the mare to move by herself. The galloped on and Shera opened her eyes, spotting the fence that seperated her from Griffon.
The though had come and made it's way into her ideas. Laughing, she squeezed Jazzie into it's direction. A gallop. A fence. A trust. Jazzie held herself to the fencing and then threw her whole body up and over the wooden fence. Shera kept her hands out and spoke normally when they reached the boy, "Halt." Jazzie stopped at that moment and Shera stuck out her hand, "Shera." With her other hand, she pulled out a piece of apple and fed it to the Vanner.

Griffon
"It is supposed to be like this!" Griffon glanced up when he heard the voice. He watched the girl, galloping towards him on her pie bald mare. She was good, and obviously had a well trained horse, he watched her leaping over the fence with ease. "Show off." he grumbled under his breath, but by the time she had approached him getting her horse to halt with only her voice, his face held only a broad grin. He popped up off the grass quickly making Cisco jump a bit, but the horse was nuzzling his back again with in seconds. He took the girl's hand, firmly in his own larger ones. "Griffon. its a pleasure to meet you." he spoke in his country accent. "You have a very nice horse there."

Shera smiled, "Thank you. She is in training. Her name is Jazzie. What is your grey's name? He is beautiful." The girl dismounted and leaned against her large mare. Her accent was obvious but she liked it. His accent was interesting also although it was more usual than hers was around here. Reaching into her hair, she pulled out her ponytail and let her long black waves roll onto her shoulders.

Griffon, grinned at her, "She already seems pretty well trained to me." His horse stretched his neck a little bit and put his head on Griffon's shoulder, his ears pricked curiously at the other horse. He lifted his hand and rested it just over Cisco's muzzle, his index finger rubbing back and forth. A feeling Griffon had learned, Cisco rather liked, immeadiately the gelding's ears flopped sideways and his lower lip became slack. Griffon laughed at his horse and then turned back to Shera, "This is Cisco. I've had him since I was ten. I fit him a bit better back then." He laughed, at six feet tall Griffon looked more than a little awkward on his 15.3 hand horse. "I'd never leave this guy though, anyways I don't see many eighteen hand cutting horses out there." he said with another laugh.

Shera reached out and stroked Cisco's forhead. "Quarter horse? What events do you do?" A cloud moved over the sun and cast a shadow over the field. Jazzie stepped forward to sniff Cisco's muzzle and Shera watched. The grass reached up to her ankels and shifted lazily in the easy breeze. Jazzie snorted softly to the gelding, Cisco.

Griffon watched the two horses, Cisco stretching his ears forward towards the mare whuffing a bit as he sniffed her. He suddenly jerked back with a squeal, Griffon jumping out of the way a bit so that his heel would not get crushed under his horse's hoof. He shook his head as he watched his gelding, tenatively reach out towards the piebald mare again. "Don't mind him," he spoke to Jazzie "He's a moron." The tall teenager ruffled his horses black mane and then turned back to Shera. "Yeah he's a quarter horse, we worked on my father's ranch for a real long time cutting, roping, sorting, penning et cetera et cetera. We've done some barrel racing and reining and competitive trail riding. I'd like to learn how ride english though jumping seems like fun." he grinned down at Shera, "What disciplines do you do?"

Shera smiled as the two horses snorted and sniffed. "Having your own ranch sounds great. I do racing, eventing, and natural horsemanship." She nodded her head, "I have some other horses also. I am training her and another. Then I have some that finished training." Shera turned her face to the side to watched the horses again. They seemed to be having a good time getting to know one another. Maybe they would end up being friends. She giggled a little as the played.

Griffon glanced over at the two horse's when Shera did, he too found their antics amusing, his eyes crinkling a bit like his father's did. "Yeah owning a ranch was pretty fun, well it wasn't mine it was my dad. I needed a break though, just wanted to work with my horse I could really care less about the cows. They were cute, but every morning at five o'clock, I would get woken up by them mooing when dad set out the hay in the pasture. Fifteen years of that and you want to strangle someone." he laughed lightly, "So you train horse's huh? I've never done it, I've always been too busy, but I feel like it would be fun."

Shera nodded, "Training is fun. It really helps you to bond with your horses. Your soul learns to become one with your horse's." She reached out her arm and stroked Jazzie's neck. Jazzie stretched her neck out to her owner. Softly, the mare nickered and rested her head on Shera. "Good girl." She cooed in her accent. The mare flicked her ears forward to listen to her. She loved to know how Shera was feeling.

"Yeah I bet." Griffon agreed, resting his hand on Cisco's shoulder, who reached his head over, lipping Griffon's cheek. He grinned rubbing slobber off with his wrist. "Thank you." he said softly to his horse, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. Suddenly he had an idea, turning his back on Shera, he grabbed a hunk of mane, and jumped, swinging up and over onto his gelding's back. "Race you to the far end of the pasture?"

Shera grinned and swung up onto Jazzie's back. She had the training for being a jockey but Jazzie was not in any way, a racehorse. It was for fun though so she would do it. "Yes." She answered as she got ready. She leaned forward and waited for him to say when to go. Shera looked up and watched the fence. She could do this, it was only to the other side. She smiled. Ohhh this would be fun.

Griffon grinned back at her, anticipation and adrenaline coursing through his body. Cisco picked up on it, prancing a bit. The blonde teenager flashed Shera a grin, as she mounted her horse. "On your marks?" he paused setting his hands firmly in Cisco's mane, "Get set!" he leaned forward a bit and gripped his gelding with his thighs "Go!" he yelled out digging his heels into Cisco's sides, the quick little quarter horse shot off.

Shera waited as she held onto the white section of the mane. When he said the word, she clicked her tounge and Jazzie lept forward at a gallop. The two raced over the field with speed and Shera kept a light position on the mare's back. The gate was not too far off now and they picked up the pace. Sun shone down and lit up the rider and horse. It seemed like slow motion as they galloped threw the field. Everything was a perfect dream.

Griffon, leaned over Cisco's neck, squeezing the gelding's sides with his calves. They had made it over the hill, now that there was competition Cisco's silly side hadn't come out. A piece of Cisco's mane flicked him in the eye making him pull up for a second. Shera had picked up the pace as they neared the gate, now finding him self a bit behind, Griffon gave Cisco a kick. The quarter horse immmeadiately shot off at a sprint pulling even with Jazzie and then starting to pass her. Griffon flashed her a grin, and then gave Cisco another small kick and put all of his attention back into the ride.

Shera was smiling wide as they galloped hard through the grass. Her smile dropped then picked up again when she saw the boy pass them. She knew it was time to let Jazzie shine. She would have to give her all of the reign and allow Jazzie to race her fastest. They were soon neck and neck with Griffon. "I am not giving up that easy!" Shera yelled to him and squeezed hard with her legs asking Jazzie to stretch out a bit to cover more land.
