Name: Sara Kingston
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: Sara's short for her age. She has light brown hair that's super pretty when she styles it, but she usually just puts it up in a messy ponytail so it's out of her face. She has hazel eyes, which are always twinkling with mischief.
Riding Experience: She's loved horses since she was about four, and she managed to convince her parents to let her start lessons when she was seven. She's been riding ever since, and whenever she gets the chance, she loves to compete.
Disciplines: She rides English usually, but loves to compete in Western events. The only problem is, she finds Western saddles uncomfortable. Sara loves jumping and doing games. She'll compete in dressage occasionally, but she finds it kinda strict and not as fun as jumping. She usually can't be bothered tacking up, because her horse is so much bigger than she is, so she's taught herself to be a really good bareback rider.
Personality: Sara is super cheeky! She loves to prank people, and she's always talking. Her friends can never get her to shut up, and the only time she's quiet is when she's eating...She even talks in her sleep. She loves to have fun, and she'll always stick up for her friends.
History: Sara's lived in Australia all of her life. She lives on a small property with her parents and her pets. Her family life isn't perfect, her Dad goes away a lot and her parents are always fighting. To escape all of the arguments, Sara usually goes on trail rides for hours at a time; her favourite thing to do is ride down to a lake she found, and then relax there by herself.
Horses Name: Desert Dancer (Desert or Dez for short)
Breed: Thoroughbred
Age: 9
Gender: Gelding
Personality: Desert is a loving and fun ex-racer. He's super lazy, but when he's motivated, he can do anything. He usually knocks down jumps or shies away from them at home, but in the show ring he performs like a champion.
Disciplines: Jumping, English
Appearance: Very dark bay, he looks almost black. His only marking is one white sock on his near hind. He's a really tall horse for Sara, he's 16.3hh and Sara barely reaches his shoulder.
Vices and Quirks: Desert is a wonderful horse when it comes to people, but he has no other friends in the horse world. He's typical of a racer, if other horses get too close his ears go back and he tries to kick them. Whenever another horse picks a fight with someone else, Desert always has to have his say. He's a bit of a bully to other horses. He's really lazy when Sara's riding him, but once he's going, he has heaps of fun.
Sample Post:
Sara sighed yet again. She wished her Dad was back in Indonesia, at least then she wouldn't have to put up with the arguments. Sneaking out of her room, she slipped out of the house unnoticed by her parents, then ran down to the stables. She pushed open the heavy door and walked down the aisle, collecting Desert's halter on the way.
"Hey Dez, how you doing big boy?" she murmured as her best friend nuzzled her affectionately. "Wanna go for a ride?"
She slipped Desert's rope halter over his head, secured the knot, and then kissed his velvety nose. Leading him out into the sun, Sara unlatched the gate to her property and swung the lead rope over Desert's neck. Quickly connecting it to the other side of the halter, she used the rails of the gate as a mounting block and swung herself up onto Desert's broad back.
"Let's go," she whispered, grabbing a lock of his mane along with the lead rope. For once, Desert didn't need further encouragement, he swung towards their favourite trail at a canter. Leaning back and holding onto his wither for support, Sara enjoyed Desert's rare spurt of energy. Leaning low over his neck, she wound her fingers into his mane and tightened her legs against him. Awakening the racer within him, Desert lengthened his stride, stretching his neck out as he barrelled along at a gallop.
"Good boy!" Sara praised him, kneading her hands along his neck and urging him to go faster. As they neared the entrance to the secret lake Sara had found two years before, Desert slowed to a trot, and Sara sat up with a sigh. "Now there's the Desert I know," she laughed, as he continued to trot along slowly, no matter how much she kicked him. Relaxing into his smooth trot, Sara smiled and washed all thoughts of her parents from her mind.
