Sam Charles
I was finished tacking up and grooming Polo and was super excited for the show. Knowing I was very competitive I tried to stay calm and cool about it. I was so determined to do well, I had worked hard with Polo for a while preparing for this show so I wanted the best outcome. I had touched up Polo neatly and he was looking stunning especially with his lovely posh brand new brow band I had gone out to but to match my tie and they were almost identical. I just needed to get my show jacket on and riding boots and I was dressed and ready to go in the ring, I had got dressed a bit early in the simple clothing.
I went inside the lorry and pulled on my boots which I had cleaned just that morning, I was never really that organised but when it came to competing with horses I always seemed to be ready some how or another, I just didn't really know how when I was generally disorganized. I pulled my jacket on and smartened myself up a little more by looking in the mirror and then got Polo and headed over to the warm up ring.
When I arrived I mounted Polo and took him into the warm up ring. I warmed him up thoroughly and then started with a few simple dressage moves then stopped after i thought I'd done enough. I didn't want to get Polo hipped up or even sweated a tiny bit. I walked Polo over the the ring were I was competing and waited outside with the other competitors waiting for my name to be called, I looked around nervously waiting slightly nervously. I tried not to show it and stayed cool.

Sam
As I heard my name called over the loud speaker I swallowed nervously but then gathered myself together and took A deep breath. I gathered up Polo and as I entered the ring at a collected trot on the bit. I nodded to the man holding the gate open as a thanks and then focused, I didn't even hear it shut I was so focused. I knew the test very well and had memorised it and practiced it so many times it just couldn't go wrong. I didn't want it to go wrong, it just couldn't.
I had trotted neatly and nicely to the top of the ring and it was time to turn down now, I did a lovely turn down the centre line and halted squarely with Polo and saluted to the judges and gave them a nice smile, From then on I knew the judges eyes would be all on me, I was beggining to feel the presure now but I took a deep breath and didn't think about it. As I walked Polo down to see I tried to sit up straight and have a good line going down my body.
I tracked right at C keeping very focused every few seconds looking down to Polo and keeping him forward going and listened intently to me. Polo was and I was keeping a careful check on this. At B I circled right with polo 15m and he was on the right bend and stepping out nicely. I did it nicely and gathered up a little more for when I finished the circle, I came to B once again and pushed Polo into a flowing rhythmic trot. I collectedly in control went carefully round to E and half circled right 10m coming to x then a nice transition into walk. After I knew a couple of steps had 3 steps had gone I went forward into trot again half circling left 10m on the track towards B. When I got to B I circled 15m in a rhythmic trot going round then moving forward to M easily and flowing. I did the combination right and was happy how Polo did and smiled to myself.
As I approached M I sat and I pushed into a nice forward canter, Polo streaching out but still nicely collected. I went nicely round to E sitting deep in the saddle but still up straight and not slouching. As I got to E I cirlced left 20m and went on the cirlce happily. I approached B and half cirlced smoothly on a 15m circle still in canter, I hadn't done anything wrong and was very happy about that. I returned to the track at just the right time for the next movement. Getting to F I half halted slightly before and came down to a trot at F happily and smootly, flowing forward in a lovely trot. Passing A I knew I had to walk and between A and K I did and came down nice and collected without any drags. I let Polo go on a free walk round to C still keeping slight control but not showing it. Approaching C I turned down the centre line and smiled because I knew the judges could see my face. I approached X and then halted in a square halt and smiled to the judges briefly then saluted.
When I knew I was done I let the reigns slip out of my hands and I patted Polo and walked him out of the ring nicely. When I had done the test I had completely forgotten about the judges watching me and the pressure had rose of me completely. I patted Polo happily and gave him loads of affection all the way back to the horse box.
