(Taylor's first now)
Taylor waited for them to ring the starting bell so she could start her round. Suddenly there was a loud *ding,* and Taylor kicked Skylar toward the first barrel on the right. She kept Skylar going at a gallop toward the first barrel on the right hand side, but slowed her down as they flew around the barrel. Taylor kicked her sides again to get her going to the left, toward the second barrel. Skylar's ears flicked back and forth as she listened intently to Taylor's commands. Taylor slowed Skylar down as they came to the second barrel, flying around it. Taylor kicked Skylar on toward the third and last barrel. She slowed her down again at the turn, then coming around, she pushed her hands forward, letting Skylar have the reins, and kicked her forward. Skylar's hooves ate up the ground as she flat out galloped back to the finish line. Taylor smiled as she slowed Skylar down after reaching it, patting the mare's sweaty neck.

Griffon Griffon watched Taylor go she was a good rider, she seemed like she was flying around the barrels. He and Cisco definently had some competition. Griffon loved barrel racing, Cisco too, loved the tight turns and flat out gallop back to the finish line. However the pair had not had as much practice as he would have hoped. Back of on the ranch he spent most of his time cutting, roping and penning. Barrel racing and reining had been sorely neglected. He smiled at Taylor when she came out, she had done well. He brought Cisco up to the starting line, and waited for the buzzer, his whole body itching to gallop as he was sure Cisco's was. He could feel him every muscle tense ready to let his legs fly. He and his gelding had done barrel racing a lot when he was a bit younger, before Dad had him working more and training for Rodeo's less. Cisco definently remembered it, when the buzzer sounded the gelding took off, Griffon urging him to go even faster towards the barrel. Griffon pulled back on the reins just a bit to make the turn easier on his slightly out of practice horse. They didn't touch the first barrel turning tightly around to the right and then quickly galloping off again towards the second one, he urged him on and for a minute Cisco got caught up in moment, as he galloped. Griffon's horse had never been as focused in barrel racing, this wasn't his work like cutting or roping, barrel racing had always been just fun. A light check with the reins brought Cisco back to Griffon as they galloped around the second barrel. Griffon hadn't caught his horses attention quickly enough though and the knocked into the barrel, he didn't spare the time to look back to see if it had fallen to the ground or just been shooken though he didn't think he heard a thump. He galloped to the next barrel being more careful around it then the previous one. They flew around it and towards the finish line he leaned forward in the saddle, kicking his horse's sides as the galloped over the line. He pulled Cisco back, giving him a pat it hadn't been perfect but it was good.
